proceedings to be taken against Inspector Knight.
4.
I desire to add that I do not
think that there are the slightest grounds for apprehending
that any one in the Colony will allege that in this matter
the Government or any one of its Officers have endeavoured
to hush up a scandal. The facts of the case were fully
investigated by three Officers of high standing one of them
being the Registrar-General whose special function it is to
protect the interests of the Chinese Community, and I have
not heard that the Sanitary Board which contains two
Chinese Members are not fully satisfied with the manner in
which the case was dealt with by the Executive Council.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
Amaz
Officer Administering the Govern-
-ment.
